The specifications of the stretch film used with a stretch wrapping machine must precisely match the equipment’s film‑holder parameters and the outer dimensions of the aluminum profiles to ensure stable packaging and minimize material waste. Horizontal stretch wrappers designed for window and door aluminum profiles universally employ standard 76 mm (3‑inch) core‑size film rolls, which are directly compatible with the machine’s standard pneumatic mandrels and mechanical top clamps—no additional fittings required. The outer diameter of the film roll is recommended to be maintained between 250 and 400 mm; exceeding 400 mm increases the inertia of the film holder during operation, leading to jerky starts and stops and raising operational safety risks.
Membrane width is a key selection criterion and should be chosen based on the cross-sectional dimensions of the aluminum profile: for small decorative aluminum strips up to 30×30 mm, use narrow‑width wrap film measuring 50–100 mm; for standard window and door profiles ranging from 60 to 120 mm, opt for the standard 150‑mm film; and for large curtain‑wall profiles or complete window and door frame assemblies, pair with 200–250 mm‑wide film, which allows a single wrap to cover the workpiece over a broad area, reducing the number of overlapping layers and shortening overall packaging time.
The standard thickness range for stretch film is 15–30 μm. Thinner films are more cost‑effective but offer reduced puncture resistance. For thick‑walled aluminum profiles with sharp edges and burrs, it is recommended to use reinforced stretch film of 25 μm or greater to prevent tearing and package disintegration during transit. For export sea‑freight packaging, we suggest using weather‑resistant stretch film formulated with UV‑stabilizing additives to withstand intense sunlight and high‑salinity conditions at sea, thereby preventing aging and cracking.
